Frequently Asked Questions

Hey, Answers community! You all routinely contact us with great questions about our site, and we thought we’d answer the most common Qs for all future askers to see. So, let’s start with a simple one…

What is

Answers is a platform for knowledge seekers and knowledge sharers alike. We strive to create a healthy environment where people can exchange information with one another through the oldest language tools around: questions and answers.

How do I ask a question?

Asking a question on Answers is rather easy! The big, orange “Ask” button will get you started. You’ll have the ability to attach topics to your question, and you can also complete the scene with some extra context. If you’d like more details, check out our blog on ways to ask a great question.

How do I answer a question?

On any individual question’s page, you can start responding by pressing the orange “Answer” button underneath the body of the question. In addition to your written answer, you can also add an image! For more on answering on Answers, take a look at our blog on how to give the best answer you can.

Who is Wiki User?

“Wiki User” is just the username we’ve applied to any answer posted before our relaunch in 2019. We used to be a wiki site, where our users collaborated in writing and editing answers—today, we allow our users to contribute questions and answers all themselves.

Who is answering my question?

It could be anybody! A lot of people come to our site thinking that we here at Answers provide the answers (we know, that’s a little confusing), but really, the floor is all yours!

What are the rules for posting?

Here are our Community Guidelines. They outline the types of content we allow and standard of conduct we, as a community, work to uphold.

Do I have to pay to use Answers?

Nope! Making an account and posting are completely free, so what are you waiting for?
